Background notes: Hard Haid Moe was (and still is) an oddity as a Disney character, as he is human and not an anthropomorphic animal. The character was created Dick Kinney and Al Hubbard in 1964, and he was one of the Disney characters created in USA, mostly for the markets outside the States. He first appeared in the Italian series Topolino #462 in 1964, and has appeared in European and Brazilian comics on a regular basis since then. In the States, he did not appear until 1969 in Wonderful World of Disney, a giveaway from Gulf, and has only appeared in a few U.S. publications so far. In Brazil the character became so popular, he had his own titles, Urtigão (169 issues) and Almanaque do Urtigão (5 issues, mostly reprints), which ran from 1987 to 1994.

A single piece of merchandise, a figurine, has been seen. Considering his popularity, it is however quite possible that more merchandise can be found. Also, it is possible that he has been transferred to other medias. So far, nothing has been found to confirm or deny this.
