Background notes: Robin Hood is one of the most famous and widely recognized fictional characters in Europe and USA, known both for his proficiency with a bow and arrow and for robbing the rich and giving it to the poor. In the Disney version, the basics of the character has been retained along with a big part of the cast. It has however been turned into a story of the two buddies, Robin Hood and Little John, rather than Robin Hood and his men, with focus on the slapstick rather than the action. The Disney version of the character first appeared in the cartoon Robin Hood (voice by Brian Bedford), and like the rest of the cast, it has been the only appearance in cartoons so far.

In comics, Robin appeared with the rest of the cast in the comic book adaption of the cartoon from Gold Key in 1973, and appeared in the following series The Adventure of Robin Hood which lasted seven issues from 1974 to 1976. After the series folded, only a few Robin Hood stories were made during the late 1970s and the 1980s, and after this the production was reduced to sporadic pictures and stories. Last record of a story so far, is French story from 2000.

A few items of merchandise has been seen, but for the most part, the character hasn't been seen in other media.
