Dragon Cross

Dragon Cross #7
The series continues in the pleasant pace from the last issue, continuing the story about the dragon Talon and his human and dragon companions. The story itself isn't moving forward as much as setting up for things to come by introducing a couple of new characters and tell a bit more about Talon's history.

Rob Richardson is back on the art, which is nice. I'm not a big fan of this type of art in general, but it's solid work and on this series it works remarkably well.

For those who like old school fantasy like Tolkien, Dragon Lance and Forgotten Realms this is one of the series worth trying out.

Dragon Cross #6 (slight spoilers)
After last issue's revelation, that the dragon Talon should look for the mythical Dragon Cross, the series now starts to focus more on the present and the future, rather than Talon's past, and the story get a much better sense of direction. Talon, who is living among the humans hiding in his human form, is seen by accident by one of his human companions and has to let him in on who he is and why he is walking among the humans. The party is also joined by Talon's childhood friend Vashti who is now on the run after a failed mission to get Talon back to the dragon's realm.

For those who enjoy old school fantasy like Dragon Lance and Forgotten Realms this is definitely a series worth checking out, and with the shift in the story this is a great jumping on point in the series.

In this issue, the art work is taken over by Elvin Cintron who was the artist on the Omega One series. Instead of painting as he did on Omega One, the art is pencils, making it more like Rob Richardson's art in the previous issues. While I would have preferred paintings like Omega One, Cintron's pencils are solid work, and the story flows nicely all the way.
