Gnomeo and Juliet (2011)

Gnomeo and Juliet The basic story
In two gardens, owned by the humans Mr. Capulet and Miss Montague, lives two tribes of garden gnomes. The two tribes hate each other and as a part of the ongoing feud, they ruin each other's gardens and have lawnmover races. As fate would have it, Gnomeo, the hero of the blue tribe, meets Juliet, the princess of the red tribe, and they fall in love. How will they find a way to be together? The answer involves an old garden, a plastic flamingo named Featherstone, and a souped up lawnmower called Terrafirminator.

How was it?
Hilarious... especially if you get the Shakespeare references. Some are subtle, others are not. As the gnome in the beginning tells you, it is a story that has been told before... a lot. I have to say, though, I haven't seen it with with an Elton John angle before. The use of Elton John's music in the movie is outstanding! Arguably it is a silly story, but it works really well, and there is an actual story in all the funny stuff... and it makes sense. It is a story for children of all ages.
