Green Lantern (2011)

Green Lantern The basic story
Hal Jordan is a test pilot like his late father, with the ability to overcome great fear. The Green Lantern Abin Sur crashes on Earth, while trying to make sure the evil entity Parallax is imprisoned somewhere safe, and Hal Jordan is chosen as Abin Sur's successor as Sur dies from his injuries from the crash.

As the new Green Lantern of the space sector, Hal is transported to the planet Oa, where he is trained by the drill instructor Kilowog and introduced to the Green Lantern Corps in general. He is also told about Parallax and why the universe needs Parallax to be locked up, and so Hal sets out to find his way as a super-hero and space-cop, and to catch and imprison Parallax.

How was it?
Mediocre! All the things that have made Hal Jordan as Green Lantern great in the comics for the last six years had been replaced with an unsavory joke. Strangely enough they got a big part of the supporting characters right, more or less. Sinestro and Kilowog were actually well portrayed. But the story about Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, no!... too little story, and the small amount of story they did put in the movie, was for the most part not very good. You can forgive quite a lot of deviations from the comic, if they just get the right feel from the comic, but Green Lantern as a comic is a competent action story, and I would have enjoyed seeing that, not a goofy super-hero, with no imagination in his constructions from his ring, in a bland story with a little action and a lot of effects.
