Jurassic Park (1993)

Jurassic Park The basic story
The tycoon Jim Hammond has found a way to recreate dinosaurs from DNA found in amber. The plan is to open an amusement park, Jurassic Park, on a remote island. A park like Jurassic Park takes time and money, and there is some risk involved, so, to put his investors at ease, Hammond arranges a preview for a group of scientist, a representative from the investors and his nephew and niece.

During the preview, the island is hit by a tropical storm and, at the same time, sabotage of the security system. Some of the dinosaurs are freed, visitors are stranded in the park area, and restoring the security system is both necessary and dangerous.

And so, the race against time and dangerous predators begins.

How was it?
Good movie. Very good actually. The computer generated dinosaurs look a little flat and grainy in places, and by the current standard, they are not very impressive. The story still works, so even now, 20+ years later, it is still well worth watching.

I would have liked the story to be closer to Crichton's novel, making it more than just an action movie. The movie is about the dangerous predators while the book is also about technology and why things go wrong due to the human factors, and you have an additional layer of suspense in the story.
