The Smurfs (2011)

The Smurfs The basic story
The evil wizard Gargamel is once again chasing the Smurfs for his magical potions, and this time he and a handful of Smurfs end up in New York. The Smurfs end up with the young man Patrick Winslow and his wife Grace. Gargamel ends up with Patrick's greedy and unreasonable boss Odile. How will the Smurfs get back to their village, and how much fun and chaos can they cause along the way?

How was it?
Better than expected. Way better. It not a great movie in any way, but it is actually rather entertaining. Hank Azaria as Gargamel was great, and the animated cat Azrael too. To me, they were by far the best part of the movie. The basic story is rather thin, and without surprises, and it is mostly a movie for children, but there are a few in-jokes for grown-ups (or at least older kids), and some of the jokes are well executed, lifting it from mediocre to an entertaining movie for children of all ages.
