The Deep (1977)

The Deep The basic story
On a diving vacation on Bermuda, Gail and David (played by Jacqueline Bisset and Nick Nolte), dive on a wreck which is off limits. Here they find a medallion and an ampule with a brown liquid. The medallion turns out to be from a lost treasure, and the ampule from a lost shipment of morphine (two ship wrecks on top of each other). The local drug lord want the morphine, while our young couple and a local treasure hunter want to salvage the treasure and blow up the morphine.

How was it?
Very entertaining. Solid story with some predictable elements, and very entertaining. The underwater sequences are beautiful, and very nicely done, and in general the movie is a solid piece of work. The focus is on the story, and not on the effects, which is nice, and even the action sequences are not that fast paced. According to the Blu-ray edition, there is supposed to be a three-hour version of the movie. So far, I have not found any evidence of an extended version anywhere.
