Tangled (2010)

Tangled The basic story
The baby Princess Rapunzel becomes sick and for healing her, she is given an extract from a magical flower. The witch Mother Gothel had been using the flower to keep her young, and with the flower gone, she needs to find a new source of power. As it turns out, the magical power of the flower is in the hair of Princess Rapunzel and so Mother Gothel kidnaps the baby. Years later, as a teenager with 70 feet of magical hair, Rapunzel is longing to see the world outside tower she has lived in, all her life. Especially the floating lights that appears in the sky every year on her birthday. Through a series of events, one of them being Rapunzel getting Mother Gothel to go on a long journey and another being the bandit Flynn Ryder trying to escape the law, Rapunzel "persuades" Flynn to take her to the floating lights. And so an adventurous journey begins.

How was it?
Highly entertaining. Very good story. A story for children of all ages. It is a basic fairy tale, for the most part, but with a lot of entertaining ideas, like the hero not being much of a hero, and the horse Maximus being smarter than most humans. Unless it is a musical, I'm not a big fan of people starting to sing in the middle of the story, but here it actually works really well. The animation is top notch. Detailed and rich without being exaggerated. For those who like fairy tales, this is definitively worth watching.
