Story: Brek Bannin came to Earth from his home planet Tharr wanting to join the Legion of Super-Heroes as Polar Boy. While he had powers, the Legion found that they might be a liability in battle and his application was rejected. Outside the Legion headquarters he met four other rejected heroes, and together they decided to form the Legion of Substitute Heroes serving as a backup for the Legion [Adventure Comics #306].


Skills & abilities: Like other natives of the planet Tharr, Brek has the power to project intense cold, which can freeze objects e.g. opponents or water vapor in the air. Polar Boy has completed the Legion's personal training program.


Equipment: Legion flight ring, giving him flight capability.
