Story: Dag Wentim grew up on the planet Zwen, where the inhabitants had the ability to turn into stone. As a young man, Dag decided to go to Earth to join the Legion of Super-Heroes. His powers however were deemed too static to be useful, so he was rejected. Outside the Legion headquarters he met four other rejected heroes, and together they decided to form the Legion of Substitute Heroes serving as a backup for the Legion [Adventure Comics #306]. Stone Boy later earned a place in the Legion of Super-Heroes, but he declined as he preferred staying with the Substitute Heroes [Adventure Comics #315].
Skills & abilities: Dag can transform himself into a relatively invulnerable stone-like form, which is immobile and inflexible. This is a native ability of the people of Zwen. In physical combat he is otherwise a mediocre combatant.
