Story: Drake Burroughs was an astro-engineer working as a part of a team on a new propulsion system. The accidental breaking of a safety valve engulfed him in anti-matter energy and transformed him into anti-energy, but he was still alive. Not knowing how long he could survive in this condition, his colleagues designed a containment suit for him, which would keep his energy body under control [Superboy #195].

Under the name ERG-1 (Energy Release Generator) he applied for membership of the Legion of Super-Heroes, but at the time he could only display super-powers that were already present in the Legion, except the one power he couldn't show them, and he was thus rejected. Right after being rejected, the Legion was called out to an emergency on Manna-5, and Burroughs followed them, hiding in their jet. On the planet, ERG-1 saved the Legion using his one unique power, the anti-energy power blast, which at the time everyone believed would also kill him. Instead of killing him however, he ended up floating around as incoherent energy [Superboy #195].

Before he could get his energy regrouped, the Legion had left Manna-5 and he had to follow them to Earth by flying there on his own, which took him almost a year. He got back just in time to save the Legion once again, and was subsequently accepted into the Legion under the name Wildfire [Superboy #201].

Skills & abilities: Wildfire is composed of anti-energy, which can be channeled and controlled. His most prominent use is energy bursts of varying strength and effect e.g. energy blasts and flight, but he has also demonstrated size changing, enhanced sight and hearing, control of chemical reactions and the ability to become non-solid . His energy appears inexhaustible, as the anti-energy of his form interacts constantly with the positive matter of our universe in miniature nuclear reactions.

Equipment: Burroughs wears an containment suit to give his energy body a human form and some measure of human existences. He also wears a Legion flight-ring for communication purposes.
