Abel's first appearance is according to DC Comics House of Secrets #81 from 1969, however, it appears that the actual first appearance was DC Special #4 which was published a month before House of Secrets #81. The author of the story in House of Secrets is also unknown, but the artist was Bill Draut who also drew the story in DC Special.
