Story: As a young archaeologist on the job in South America, Adam Strange was running for his life, followed by savages, when he was hit by a Zeta beam, and transported off Earth. The beam transported him to the planet Rann, 4.5 light-years from Earth. Here he met the lovely Alanna and her father, the scientist Sardath, and became Rann's first citizen and savior. The effect of the Zeta beam was not permanent, and when it wore off, Strange would be transported back to Earth. Here he had to find the next Zeta beam (somewhere below Equator) to be transported back to Rann and Alanna [Who's Who (first series) #1].
