Background notes: Li'l Bad Wolf was introduced when the Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs were transferred from cartoon to comics. Being a Disney character he had to be good and cuddely. In the setting it made a nice reversal of roles. With Donald Duck and his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie it was Donald who was the grownup, at least most of the time back in the beginning. In Li'l Bad Wolf it was the father who was a scoundrel and the son who was the responsible character.

Li'l Bad Wolf never really crossed over to other medias. A very limited amount of merchandise has been made, but that's it. It has been suggested that he appeared in the cartoon Three Little Wolves from 1936, and it is possible that the basic design for the son of the Big Bad Wolf was laid down at this point, but the behavior of the wolves makes it impossible for any of the cubs to be Li'l Bad Wolf. Another appearance, which is at best a cameo, is the cartoon The Porker's Court from 1993. The cartoon is a parody on the program The People's Court where the Three Little Pigs takes the Big Bad Wolf to court for destroying their houses. During the trial of the Big Bad Wolf the camera zooms in on Li'l Bad Wolf. In the cartoon the wolf is called "The Large Nasty Wolf" and everyone is speaking jive, which considering how strict Disney are about names and voice characteristics, makes it most likely an alternative version of the Disney characters.
