Background notes: Gilbert first appeared as Goofy's genius nephew in
Four Color Comics #562 from 1954. Goofy essentially being a big child, Gilbert of course had to be a small grown-up, and the stories often played on the bright kid versus the not-so-bright grown-up. Later in 1965 when Goofy became Super Goof and Gilbert became Super Gilbert shortly after, the two became more equal but the bright kid/not-so-bright grown-up continued.
Stories with Gilbert are still written today. The production of stories started in USA, but in the sixties Europe and Brazil started producing stories too. Gradually the non-USA production took over and by the early seventies, the production of stories with Gilbert had moved to Brazil and Europe. Today almost all the stories with Gilbert are made in Italy.
Super Gilbert only lasted very shortly in the US comics. The last story was in
Super Goof #20 after which Super Gilbert almost only occurred in Brazilian stories along with the other super-heroes of the Disney universe. The European contribution to the Super Gilbert Stories was four stories produced in the early seventies in Denmark.
Apart from Gilbert figurines, it would seem that neither Gilbert nor Super Gilbert made it to other media than comics.
